Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices #2) by Cassandra Clare

“We live and breathe words.”

It seems such a cliché manner in opening this, but I think the quote sufficiently sums up how I feel about this book – this series. I do not simply read this series, but live and breathe the words. In my head, the characters exist perfectly, as though they’ve always been a part of my world. I picture them wholly and imagine them as distant friends of mine, recalled from a memory. I know, I’m being corny. Forgive me; this book has affected me, and I think I’m still under its spell.

Despite the mockery poked at Cassandra Clare, despite the way her books are scorned, this is possibly one of my favorite books I’ve read – and certainly the best book I feel Clare has written. What sets The Infernal Devices apart from The Mortal Instruments is a number of factors, but most notably how the writing seems so different. It’s not something I can quite pinpoint, but simply to note she has an eloquence. Certainly, one can credit the Victorian London era for this, as her writing certainly fits in the era in which she writes. And it’s something I absolutely love. This simple trick immerses me into this world, set so many years before me.

I’m serious. I LOVED this book.

From the get-go, readers are thrown into the plot. In the beginning, we learn the overall push of the story. The end of Clockwork Angel was a storm of disaster, with the death of De Quincey, the escape of Mortmain, and the revelation that the Institute housed Nate the traitorous and lead to the betrayal and the deaths of Agatha and Thomas. Because of this, Charlotte has only two weeks to locate Mortmain and prove to the Clave she can successfully run the Institute – or else Bennedict Arnold Lightwood will take control of it. And it is with this daunting task we meet again with Tessa and her makeshift family.
Two new characters are introduced, as replacements to the late Agatha and Thomas, though we unfortunately learn very little of them. Knowing Clare, I have a feeling we’ll learn more about them in our final book.

Something I feel Clare really did well in this book was the way the everyone had their own subplot, in contribution to the overall arc of the book. Poor Tessa, alone in this world and abandoned by her brother, has forged a family with the members of the London. But she still doesn’t know who – or what – she is. Mortmain wants her for something and she has no idea what that something is. It’s incredibly disconcerting to her and she continues her search to learn what she is.

The ending of Clockwork Angel makes more sense as we follow Will around the book. Far more likable in this book than the last, readers learn of the burden he’s carried on his shoulders for five years, and we even get a glimpse into his past. Anyone who disliked Will or felt apathetic towards him before now will surely thaw as they get to know him better. I’m standing proof! As someone who liked Will enough, I find myself incredibly drawn to him.

Even Sophie has a storyline! A very well deserved one, too, at that.

“Trains are great dirty smoky things," said Will. "You won't like it." Tessa was unmoved. "I won't know if I like it until I try it, will I?

One of my favorite parts of the book, though, is where the storyline takes us. Finally, we travel outside of the London Institute. We take a train to Yorkshire, so perfectly described, you really are there. Clare’s craft for descriptions creates the world around you. In desperation, we travel to the slums of London. We visit an elaborate, dangerous masquerade. Readers are taken on a ride, and oh, it’s a beautiful ride at that. Through our travels, readers finally start to learn more about Mortmain. While little plot seems to take place, a lot of the book is discovery and information, which is important in finding Mortmain in the first place.

And in uncovering Mortmain’s motives and past is the most painful discovery for the London Institute: that someone of their group has betrayed them.

Of course, the main storyline of which everyone speaks is the love triangle. Recall that I’m not a fan of triangles, as I find them overused, sloppily-done, and unnecessary. However, Clare seems to have done the nearly impossible in the creation of this love triangle. It is, to say the very least, the perfect triangle. We don’t have two boys fighting over one girl, but a triangle with an important relationship at every point, and it makes me anxious to see how everything will pan out because someone will be hurt. Maybe multiple someones.

From the beginning of Clockwork Angel, we have been entertained by the reckless passion of Tessa and Will, and this certainly continues in the second installment. Tessa, to my immense pleasure, deviates from the typical YA heroine, though, and while readers may be upset in her self-preservation, it is something that only makes me love her more. The more we’re in Will’s head, though, the more we come to understand his actions, and the terrible things he has said and done in the previous book.

Less notable to many, but unmissed by this self-professed Jem fangirl, in Clockwork Angel was his subtly growing affections for Tessa, and of course this continues as well. For all who found Jem boring, they’ll find a rather entertaining side to him that proves nice boys aren’t always droll. In Will’s distance to Tessa, Jem keeps her company and helps alleviate her homesickness by showing her around London.

“Will has always been the brighter burning star, the one to catch attention — but Jem is a steady flame, unwavering and honest. He could make you happy.”

When you think of it that way, I can’t blame Tessa for being torn. Two beautiful boys whom each appeal to you in a different way? How does anyone make a choice?

“Our souls are knit. We are one person, James.”

For me, though, the heart of the relationship is the one centered around Jem and Will. Nevermind the parabataisattraction to the same girl. What I love dearly about this story and this triangle, is the way these two love each other. For so long, the only person Will has ever loved is Jem, and despite his moods, despite his “habits”, Jem loves Will dearly. They are fiercely dedicated to each other, and their worlds don’t just center around the other, but overlap.

It’s a beautiful relationship, but a rather scary one.

As we recall, Jem is dying. He is sustained only by a drug that as well as keeps him alive, kills him. The impending death of Will’s parabatai is further explored, in a heart breaking manner. More than I enjoy Will or Jem’s affections for Tessa, I love the relationship between these boys, and the beautiful relationship they share. I do, in this moment, declare them my brOTP. It is Jem’s practical acceptance of his impending death that really makes me feel for the parabatais relationship, and it makes me fear, for the way Will depends upon him.

“Someday, Will, I will go where none can follow me, and I think it will be sooner rather than later. Have you ever asked yourself why I agreed to be your parabatai?”

Of course, the triangle is the culmination of these points. It is the web of affections and relationships which threaten to drive the three apart. Beautiful is the three together, and how effectively they work together and with what ease the three of them have struck friendship. The banter is playful, if not competitive at times, and often lends to a laugh. Even better is how they look out for each other and how obvious all three care deeply for the others.

"I've never swum naked in the Thames before, but I know I wouldn't like it."

"But think how entertaining for sightseers," said Tessa, and she saw Jem duck his head to hide the quick flash of his grin.”

With this relationship in place, it is easy to love everyone, and it is easy to just want everyone happy – because we all know that in a love triangle, someone will be hurt.

Everything about this book is beautiful and so well done. Clare has perfectly created Victorian London around me, in a most vivid way. The dialogue remains witty and delightful, with most of the funniest lines belonging to Will, whose sense of humor seems to shine even more this time around. So much of this book is composed of great character development. Already, Clare had had a cast of fantastic characters, but with this book, we further explore them and learn more about them. More complex layers are revealed, and for me, by the end of the book, it was nearly impossible not to love the cast. I was converted. I went from preferring Jem to Will to loving them dearly in their own way (even if my bias remains with Jem.)

Do I even dare warn you of the impending emotional crisis? I'll just warn you - some of you may need tissues. Clare plays with your heart like a puppeteer and her puppets and numerous passages broke my heart in some kind of way. Even Clare herSELF cried and SHE wrote this!

Clare has absolutely outdone herself with this book. I find it far superior to TMI and encourage anyone who was not entirely sold on Clare’s other series to try the prologue, if only for the fantastic setting and the brilliantly complex characters. Though it seems little plot is really accomplished in this book, it feels like so much has happened (and trust that quite a bit of action ensues) by the end of the book. And with the sheer amount of character development accrued on all parts, it more than exceeds the middle book syndrome. Sequels are rarely better than the first, but I am in love with Clockwork Prince. It is, by far, my favorite of Clare’s work, and deserves its place amongst my favorite books.

All fans of Clare will enjoy this book, and I encourage anyone to try this one. The writing is beautiful, the characters are all so likable and complicated, and despite the romantic tensions, the book fortunately lacks the severe amounts of dramatic angst I’m so wary of from TMI.

 Go. Go read this!

‘o you have torn all my life to pieces’

I’m in the process of reading "Tess of the d’Urbervilles" by Thomas Hardy. Got this book at Gramedia and the only copy left. Even though the book condition couldn't be called brand new, but I've been searching this book since a long time ago. Sadly this is taking me longer than normal. When I’m sick (even if it’s just a small cold) I don’t concentrate as well so reading becomes a chore sometimes. Especially when reading a book that isn’t just plain “eye candy”. This isn’t a simple book to read. It takes thought (like most classics). I can see why Thomas Hardy wasn’t received well by the critics of his day. Victorian era England was rather stodgy. Anyway, I rarely love classic romances like this (though this isn’t strictly a romance… it’s more of life of the everyday person - every day people do have love lives too!). PLUS- I don’t have to worry about running into the smuttiness that is in a lot of modern “romance” books (I just call them smut books). Aand I want this edition.
I love how Thomas Hardy describes Tess’s face from Angel Clare’s point of view. The reader can fully tell how much he, Angel, cares for her. Makes me want to sigh deeply *sigh*

(from Phase the Second: Maiden No More chapter 24):

How very lovable her face was to him. Yet there was nothing ethereal about it: all was real vitality, real warmth, real incarnation. And it was in her mouth that this culminated. Eyes almost as deep and speaking he had seen before, and cheeks perhaps as fair; brows as arched, a chin and throat almost as shapely; her mouth he had seen nothing to equal on the face of the earth. To a young man with the least fire in him that little upward lift in the middle of her red top lip was distracting, infatuating, maddening.

And all this while this young man was milking a cow and watching her milk another cow… Who knew a dairy farm could be so romantic? *roll eyes* :)

While she carries the burdens of the devil raping her and the angel leaving her. .

He still continues to go on his journey. Continuing on to his dreams.

I WANNA FIND FLUFFY D:

Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist is without a doubt, one of my favourite movies of all time. Not only is the music amazing, but you can’t help but fall in love with Michael Cera. Honestly, he is just adorable and awkward and awesome… Anyways…

I wish that at least one night of my life will end up like this movie. I don’t give a damn about the Notebook… I want a Nick and Norah-esque night. Preferably with Michael Cera, but that’s definitely pushing the boundaries of reality right now. I just want a night of adventure in NYC with my cool friends looking for a secret cool show for a cool band.. is that too much to ask?

To many, this post is pointless - sorry i’m not sorry - but i’m watching the movie right now, and so it is on the forefront of my mind. And this is a blog. My blog. So i can post whatever I want. Even if it is pointless rambling, better to put it on the world-wide-web for everyone to see right?

Opens at Nightfall Closes at Dawn

One aspect of the novel that I really love is the abundant journal keeping and writings from many of my favorite characters. They contain their longings, memories, magic and secrets.
****************

It started with a suicide note.

“The sealed envelope hangs from the second topmost button of her coat, until Prospero arrives.”

and continues

“He copies down sections of books, writes out words and symbols he does not understand at first but that become intimately familiar beneath his ink-stained fingers, formed again and again in increasing steady lines.”

“He begins each notebook the same way, with a detailed drawing of a tree inscribed with a black ink inside the front cover.”

- Marco (at least that’s what he named himself, and maybe that’s all that matters.)
*
“Pages and pages of observations, recounting his experiences, mostly so he will not forget them but also to capture something of the circus on paper, something he can hold on to.”

- Herr Thiessen
*
“After the circus departed, he wrote down every detail he could remember about it so it would not fade in his memory.”

- Bailey
*
“…takes a closer look at the blueprints and sketches hanging from shelves and tacked to mirrors and paintings and windows. Some are complete rooms, others are bits of exterior architecture or elaborate archways and halls.”

- Chandresh
*

” the drafting table by the window is all but hidden in the meticulous ordered chaos of papers and diagrams and blueprints.”

“I want a story,” he says.
“A story?”
“I want this story. Your story.”

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.

But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love—a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.

True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.

Written in rich, seductive prose, this spell-casting novel is a feast for the senses and the heart.

The story started in spurts, dengan chapters pendek yang membingungkanku sampai akhirnya aku mulai mengerti alirannya.

The book is a feast for the senses.

I loved all the characters, buku ini dipenuhi dengan karakter-karakter yang menurutku 'lovable', terutama 'the twins'. We can't have Celia falling for a jerk, after all...

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is to me, much more than a book. It is an experience to be savoured and treasured by all of those who read it.

Reason to Breathe by Rebecca Donovan

Emma Thomas is hiding a terrible a secret.

Reason to Breathe is an electrifying page turner from start to finish, a unique tale of life-changing love, unspeakable cruelty, and one girl’s fragile grasp of hope."

I LOVE THIS BOOK! Setelah beberapa bulan baca buku yang ceritanya hampir ngggak jelas semua, akhirnya nggak sengaja ketemu Reason to Breathe by Rebecca Donovan.

Oh, boy. Writing a review on this book is going to be hard but, here it is!

Yang tidak diketahui Evan, however, is that some things are better left unsaid.

This book pulls at your heart strings as you feel for Emma, and struggle with her reasoning to stay in her horrible situation. It isn't until the true love of Evan that Emma realizes her self worth and is willing to risk it all just to "live".

This book was mind-boggling, heart-breaking, and seemed so truthful- it opens your eyes.

Bookasaurus

I don’t understand why most of our generation dislike reading.
Everything about reading is so great. It is cool to dislike reading? It’s is the acceptable thing now? I find that so strange.

Reading opens up so many possibilities. New ideas, worlds, journeys. It improves your writing as well. I mean, reading can just take you away. I love books that I just cannot put down. Books can teach you so many life lessons. They tell tales of adventure, romance, life. I can learn about a whole new world in one sitting.

I much rather curl up with a book, than go out and gossiping.

Maybe that’s just me.

Major turn off is a LIAR

Guys who turn me off..

  1. Liar
  2. Promise breaker
  3. Brainless
  4. Heart breaker
  5. Too sociable
  6. Eyes on other girls too
  7. Make comparison between me and others
  8. Guys who give up easily
  9. Empty noisy can

Huh, I'm surprised I actually write something like this. Is it the effect for not REALLY reading book? Idk, I need to read now, as in RIGHT NOW.

Today I realized I can't read books. Not “can’t read books” as in I’m illiterate, I mean “can’t read books” as in I can’t seem to finish reading a book. The thing is, I love reading… But usually “life” happens and I get too busy. I like to be the kind of person that can go somewhere and read, but it seems I’m always on the go. Although, I’m most likely making excuses. I’m just bringing this up because I finally finished Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. I started the book back in … I think it was late July or early August. It’s odd, I love books and the idea of books, and reading, but I just can’t seem to sit down and read. I always either have to be doing something or I am doing something. I’m not saying that reading isn’t “doing something” or that it’s not productive, because it most certainly is —- I just can’t seem to focus on one thing.

I need to read more, fall in love at a bookstore and run away with her forever.

YEARBOOK OFFICE "Immortalizing Your Awkward Phase"

Your yearbook is a place to fill with memories that you can always look back upon, show your children, your grandchildren. Which is why you should definitely make your picture, design, etc awesome. And actually, I finished, our yearbook! Massive relief, rather happy with it :) Everyone else seemed to like it too, yay! Me and my two besties were being in charge of my class yearbook design. I was in charge of being the main editor while Desi and Fira helped collecting the photos and data. I'm proud of my class, because we didn't spend any money at all (actually because we have no money-_-) we do the design, photography, and properties by ourself.

Editors have a responsibility to get back to you in a timely manner. The best work gets scooped up quickly. The ones who get away = a great loss to us and another’s journal’s gain. We do a disservice to ourselves. Put simply: If you don’t have TIME to edit, maybe you shouldn’t be editing.

If you’re going to be famous, you need to make sure you look good in your yearbook!

The Cab’s new album, just stop whatever you’re listening to and go listen to it. It is beauty, it is love, it is inspiration, and hardship and finding yourself. I’ve waited a long time for their new CD and now that I’ve had it on repeat all day, I can honestly say, it was worth the wait. How they have changed in those years.

I’ve found the words that will inspire me: “I’m living louder and dreaming longer tonight. I’m fighting harder and loving stronger tonight."

It is just gorgeous, the words that fill this album. Go listen, it’s worth it.

Something I Just Realized

Let’s face it - English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren’t invented in England or French fries in France. Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren’t sweet, are meat. We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

And why is it that writers write but fingers don’t fing, grocers don’t groce and hammers don’t ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn’t the plural of booth beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese? One index, 2 indices? Doesn’t it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend? If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?

If teachers taught, why didn’t preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell? How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which an alarm goes off by going on. English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race (which, of course, isn’t a race at all). That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.

Sorry, I've been in a random mood lately-_-

The Butterfly Project

The Butterfly Project…

The Rules are:

  1. When you feel like you want to cut, take a marker, pen, or sharpies and draw a butterfly on your arm or hand.

  2. Name the butterfly after a loved one, or someone that really wants you to get better.

  3. You must let the butterfly fade naturally. NO scrubbing it off.

  4. If you cut before the butterfly is gone, you’ve killed it. If you dont cut, it lives.

  5. If you have more than one butterfly, cutting kills all of them.

  6. Another person may draw them on you. These butterflies are extra special. Take good care of them.

  7. Even if you don’t cut, feel free to draw a butterfly anyways, to show your support. If you do this, name it after someone you know that cuts or is suffering right now, and tell them. It could help.

Sam Roth's Life

Oh my god. This has to be one of the worst, yet well meaning plan ever heard of.

“My girlfriend is dying in the hospital and her parents are convinced it’s my fault and her dad forbid her to see me, and the punched me in the face, twice. So I think it’s a good idea to listen to the new member of my werewolf pack because he’s this creepy science super genius that sent me into a PTS episode less than a week ago. Risk my girlfriend life, let this kid drip his spit in a cut on her wrist, and then drag her out the window while her parents on the other side of the door know I’m in the hospital room with her and will think I kidnapped her, and brought her to my house in the woods to watch her die and cough up blood because I can’t tell them about the werewolf thing or they’ll really flip a tit and get a restraining order.”

Sam Roth’s life is complicated, guys.

HOLLY ROLLIE POLLIE!

Reflecting is another difficult necessity of life. I know how something happened, sometimes I’ll know why it happened, but why do I have to look back and then write about it? I guess it helps me become a better person and learn from what I've done. I would love to make some comments on my last year at SMPN 5 Yogyakarta.

This year was crazy and strange and different, took infinite getting used to, seemed like a foreign world for awhile, but I wouldn't change it for the world. I've grown up so much in the past year, and I can't think of a better place to do it. Pawitikra was definitely amazing, and I had a lot of fun there. I've met so many amazing people this year, and I can’t imagine life without them now. I also love my friends, both the new ones I’ve made this year and the old ones. DESI (BFF since elementary school), DINDA (you made me more talkative), FIRA (one word, All Time Low rocks!)

In the beginning I thought not knowing everyone at your school would be terrifying and would make you a social outcast, but I think my past self was being a little melodramatic because I was totally wrong. I’ve done so many amazing things this year and achieved more than I thought possible! My greatest achievement this year would have to be the improvement in my design graphic skill and more talkative, or so I think. It may not show in every assignment I do, but even outside of school, when I look at my frivolous sort of works, the quality has improved hugely. On the opposite end of the spectrum, my greatest struggle was to keep myself working hard on everything I do. I’m a HUGE procrastinator, heck, I’m doing it on this very assignment, but I’m already pushing myself to work on time management. I tend to put everything off until the last minute, whether it’s studying for that final tomorrow or finally getting up off my butt and working out like I know I should. I’m still working on starting to get things done early, but I think I’m starting to improve. This is one of the reasons I’m looking forward to next year; getting to grow even more. I’m looking forward to next year simply because I have no idea what’s going to happen at this point. I’ve always been fairly certain of my future, and now I have no idea. The thing is I’m learning that not knowing exactly what is going to happen is okay, as long as you are willing to take on whatever comes your way.

I look forward to discovering more of myself and who I want to be next year. I’ll be at a true high school, which is both nerve-wracking and exciting. I'm excited to see how I’ll turn out. I know that some people might be worried about what'll happen, but I know I have a good head on my shoulders, so everything will be just fine.

*about two seconds later*

WHO AM I KIDDING MY LIFE’S GONNA SUCK WITHOUT YOU GUYS WITH ME!! *sobbing uncontrollably*

Omygosh I don’t want everything to end! I’m so excited for high school and whatever but I’m going to miss everybody and I just afkjsebfkdbgbdskjghbg…

Adventures of IX D Ended Here

Holiday was ahMazing! Even though it means goodbye with my ex-school and ex-classmates :( Lots of walking, and it was sooo hot the whole time. Everything was so nice, and amazing and i had so much fun! ughh, i can’t even explain it all.

I really enjoy this trip to Batu, Jawa Timur. Especially spending time with my ex-classmates before we parted to our own school. I ate lots of good stuff at this trip (including 6 packs of 'keripik apel' by myself). Someone was pretty sweet to me & made we got pretty much attention from the others-_- We went to Jatim Park 1 & 2, BNS, Coban Rondo, and had an agro tour. Never in my life have I ever had the urge to go ‘Scarf shopping’ but I really want one because when we go outside and my whole body gets freezing. But it’s a good novelty to actually be cold.

The one who guide us till we passed on UAN. I'm happy at least you could see our yearbook design. You have gone but you will never be forgotten.

I can't imagine that holiday is already over and i have to go to school tomorrow. Which mean NEW SCHOOL!! WOW!

good luck to me. and to everyone.

Cam and the legions of angels and Outcasts are desperate to catch Luce, but none are as frantic as Daniel. He chases Luce through their shared pasts, terrified of what might happen if she rewrites history.

Because their romance for the ages could go up in flames . . . forever.

Passion, bagaimanapun, meninggalkanku banyak pertanyaan jadi aku bakal sangat mengantisipasi the final book, Rapture, yang keluar Spring 2012. The need of beautiful book, fulfilled! :D

Hereafter by Tara Hudson

Can there truly be love after death?

Drifting in the dark waters of a mysterious river, the only thing Amelia knows for sure is that she's dead. With no recollection of her past life—or her actual death—she's trapped alone in a nightmarish existence. All of this changes when she tries to rescue a boy, Joshua, from drowning in her river. As a ghost, she can do nothing but will him to live. Yet in an unforgettable moment of connection, she helps him survive.

Amelia and Joshua grow ever closer as they begin to uncover the strange circumstances of her death and the secrets of the dark river that held her captive for so long. But even while they struggle to keep their bond hidden from the living world, a frightening spirit named Eli is doing everything in his power to destroy their newfound happiness and drag Amelia back into the ghost world . . . forever.

Thrilling and evocative, with moments of pure pleasure, Hereafter is a sensation you won't want to miss.

Aku nggak pernah merasa "just one more chapter."

Aku pikir a lot of romance-crazy girls jelas bakal suka buku ini. Kalau kamu salah satu dari mereka, aku bakal bilang ya, baca aja. But for my own personal tastes, I’d have to give it a three out of five rating.

Divergent by Veronica Roth

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

Debut author Veronica Roth bursts onto the literary scene with the first book in the Divergent series—dystopian thrillers filled with electrifying decisions, heartbreaking betrayals, stunning consequences, and unexpected romance.

I really don't know where to start with this review!
I absolutely loved this book and read it in one sitting because I couldn't bear to put it down!

This book was fantastic, I love this book.

Let me cut to the chase: Divergent definitely lives up to the hype. I loved the book from beginning to end (including the cover) and could not put it down. One of my favorite books so far this year.

As for the romance: loved it! Tris and her man (or boy rather) are so cute together dan masuk akal untuk mereka bersama.

Yes, there were some gaps there ("What about the rest of the world?" would be my first question), but they did not bother me that much because there were so many good things to make up for it.

Alurnya super cepat.

Ini semacam menggangguku yaitu banyak buku adalah 'for fans of the Hunger Games' atau 'better than the Hunger Games'. Yes, I loved the Hunger Games tapi itu udah selesai dan aku nggak mencari for the next Hunger Games tapi lebih ke sesuatu yang baru dan original. Walaupun aku merasa atmosfirnya mirip-mirip Matched.

  4. Choose Running
  5. Find Download Manager then open it
  6. Clear data & Force stop

Hope this helps you :)

Where have you been?

I have nothing to do for about one month (or even two months). So i'm going to use my Diana Mini again to lessen doing this and that bloody chores *wink* Let's see... I've abandoned her(no, she is not 'it') for almost one year. I hope she is still okay. Luckily, I found two films in my box, one negative color film and one B/W.

This morning was spent hunting photo and then running around JEC till Kotagede. Running till Kotagede, far from home almost 6km , dying for drink, I nearly fainted. Okay, that was a bit dramatic of me.

But now, as you can tell, i’m doing alright.

For me, Diana Mini is a little harder to learn how to use and to get used too, a little harder to befriend and a little harder to love... I'm still struggling with my diana mini sometimes (and the lab, of course). Just scroll down to see my broken pictures*sob*, but I'll keep trying to learn her. Can't wait for the time when I started to love her ♥♥

Nandia, my adorable ex-classmate, she's moving to Jakarta

p.s. can you believe I haven't shared some of these photos already?! They're taken almost one year ago!

Anne's Geek Look

First off, it’s completely ridiculous that a “night out” sort of look that includes glasses warrants extra attention. Why not just say she’s lookin’ pretty adorable? Which she is. This is her look at the premiere of Rio. Los Angeles, April 10.

Meet Cato & Clove!

Among other tributes cast, I think this one is my fav. Oh God, Alexander Ludwig (maybe you've seen him in Race to Witch Mountain) as Cato—Katniss and Peeta’s most fearsome opponent because of his size and strength, skill with many weapons, and savage pleasure in killing. He has complete confidence in his abilities and expects that he will be the victor. Maybe too small and skinny for Cato role, but not so bad.

And Isabelle Fuhrman as Clove—who is arrogant, strong, and can use many weapons, especially knives, with which she is known to not ever miss her target. She has a special hatred of Katniss because of her high training score. I just know that she is the creepy Esther in the horror flick Orphan o.O

The Throne of Fire (Kane Chronicles #2) by Rick Riordan

"Ever since the gods of Ancient Egypt were unleashed in the modern world, Carter Kane and his sister Sadie have been in trouble. As descendants of the House of Life, the Kanes have some powers at their command, but the devious gods haven't given them much time to master their skills at Brooklyn House, which has become a training ground for young magicians.

And now their most threatening enemy yet - the chaos snake Apophis - is rising. If they don't prevent him from breaking free in a few days' time, the world will come to an end. In other words, it's a typical week for the Kane family.

To have any chance of battling the Forces of Chaos, the Kanes must revive the sun god Ra. But that would be a feat more powerful than any magician has ever accomplished.

First they have to search the world for the three sections of the Book of Ra, then they have to learn how to chant its spells. Oh, and did we mention that no one knows where Ra is exactly?

Narrated in two different wisecracking voices, featuring a large cast of new and unforgettable characters, and with adventures spanning the globe, this second installment in the Kane Chronicles is nothing short of a thrill ride."

Available now at PERIPLUS! Bloody hell..

Can't wait for the next one!

LOL Sadie, Carter, I'll be on the lookout for your tape!

The Goddess Test by Aimée Carter

"It's always been just Kate and her mom—and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won't live past the fall.

Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld—and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.

Kate is sure he's crazy—until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess."

The Goddess Test? Baca judulnya aja udah langsung bikin tertarik ditambah baca sinopsisnya yang kayaknya lumayan seru. Dan pas baca nama Hades langsung, "Another Nico!" hehe.

Nggak tahu kenapa, tapi buku ini ngingetin aku sama Beauty and The Beast.

The Olympians, yang menurutku kemuculan mereka disini jadi agak aneh gara-gara wujud modernnya.

Goddess Test Series

Across the Universe by Beth Revis

"Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.

Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone-one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship-tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn't do something soon, her parents will be next.

Now Amy must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there's only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming."

Well, I finished this book about two months ago. HA! And just review it now-_- First, let me assure you I will not SPOIL anything in this book. Except for the use of FREX… Hahaha!!! I love this cuss word… it works. I dunno if anyone has used it before, because I don’t usually read sci-fi, but I like it. I don’t curse… so this one is giggly to me… I can’t help it.

She felt real with real emotions, love and heartbreak.

Elder adalah bagian dari dunia baru tapi dia nggak so far lost onto that we can't relate.

In novel with countless things to fall in love with, mungkin yang terbaik adalah suasana pesawatnya.

The Universe is a must read.

Okay, I do realize that my post is so scattered and jumbled up with random updates. I think I’ve abandoned my blog for tad bit too long this time and did I spoil anything? >.<

Unearthly by Cynthia Hand

In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . .

Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.

Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.

As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?

Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.

If you're thinking, "Oh, no, not another angel book," stop it right now.
Yah, Unearthly emang lagi-lagi buku yang nyeritain tentang angel & nephilim. Awalnya aku juga mikir kayak gitu. But shush and listen for second.

OK, so how much longer until the sequel?

My final say, what do you think of the new angel trend? Do you love it or hate it?
